Apple is giving free iOS and Mac upgrade programs to anyone who buys an iPhone 5s or later for $79.99.
Apple will then offer up to 20% off the next iPhone upgrade price for the first 10 purchases, starting on October 5, 2018.
The iPhone upgrade program is valid for customers who bought their iPhones between June 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018, as well as iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c models.
This means that anyone who purchased a iPhone 5, 5c, or 5s on June 1st and bought another iPhone within the first few weeks of December 31st will be eligible to upgrade to the new operating system for free.
If you already have a free iPhone or Mac and already upgraded, you can upgrade for $59.99 with the Apple Upgrade Program.
That means if you already own an iPhone, iPhone 5 or iPhone 5C, iPhone 6, iPhone SE, or iPhone X, you will not need to do anything at all to upgrade.
If your purchase includes a MacBook, you’ll be able to upgrade for free too, though it will cost you more than a free upgrade to get there.
Those who purchased an iPhone 4S or 5 will also be eligible for the free upgrade program.
The program will run from September 15, 2018 through December 31 of next year, and the iPhone 5 upgrade is limited to 20 units, so if you own two iPhone 5 models and need to upgrade, you should do so as soon as possible.
Apple says you will also get a free copy of macOS Mojavac, which will replace your existing Mac OS X operating system and get rid of the need to install the Mac OS in your machine.
Apple’s upgrade program will be available starting October 1.
