He tries to keep the Doctor at bay while he tries to stop the Master from killing his wife.
It was originally planned to end in the Tenth’s death but due to budget restraints the episode was re-worked to conclude with a cliffhanger that left viewers wondering how the Doctor would get back to the TARDIS.
This episode is a great introduction to the Doctor Who universe.
